Safety Operations

Diver's Alert Network

Lake Rawlings maintains a DAN oxygen unit, ample first aid supplies and a spine board. In addition, Lake Rawlings also maintains standard rescue equipment to assist swimmers who may be in trouble.

There are divemasters on duty to assist in emergency situations. Lake Rawlings is adequately staffed to handle most emergencies.

For more information, see our Emergency Action Plan.

Campfire policy

Due to dry conditions and recent events, we have instituted stricter rules for campfires at the lake. Click here for more information.

Concession Services

Lake Rawlings stocks refrigerated sodas and bottled water inside the Dive Shack, plus juice, candy and snacks; come in and browse. Sodas and water sell for $0.75 per container; juice sells for $1.00-$1.50 per container. And, we also sell disposable underwater cameras that are very reasonably priced. Forgot film? Batteries? We also sell these items, plus mask defog, bumper stickers, etc.

Air Fill Station

Lake Rawlings has plenty air storage, utilizing fifteen 300 cu.ft. bottles at 4500 psi each. Our air storage is supplied by two 10 cu. ft. state-of-the art compressors that houses multiple air filtration chambers to purify the air to grade E quality (the most pure air available in the industry). Our compressors are serviced regularly. Our air is tested at least once every three months by Analytical Chemists of San Diego, CA; the latest air test report is always kept next to the fill station inside the Dive Shack.

Pets are welcome at Lake Rawlings, but please make sure to keep them under control and pick up after them immediately. Large dogs must be leashed, and any animal trained to attack, bite, or guard is not permitted.

Animals are not permitted in the staging area or the lake while divers are present.

Quiet hours are from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM. Please respect those who are trying to sleep.

Equipment Rentals

We have a large selection of diving equipment available for rent, including both aluminum and steel tanks, BCDs, wetsuits, and all the trimmings.

Please see our Current Service Rates page for details.

"Off the street" swimmers

Lake Rawlings is primarily a diver-oriented facility with an accent on family group activities. With the increase of "off the street" visitors who solely swim or snorkel, overwhelming the divers, it is imperative that the following new policy be instituted at Lake Rawlings.

Lake Rawlings will no longer allow "off the street" snorkelers, swimmers and visitors to come on the property to swim on Saturday and Sunday. Snorkelers, swimmers and visitors who are a part of a diving group (non-diving family members), are most welcome to enter the property, and will be allowed to snorkel or swim so long as they are respectful of our policies and rules.

Snorkelers and swimmers not part of a diving group, i.e., "off the street" will be allowed the use of Lake Rawlings Monday through Friday.
