$950.00 per camper, Regular Tuition, when full payment is received after June 1, 2007. (All sessions)

A minimum $150.00 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your child's placement in our camp program. This deposit will be credited towards the full cost of tuition.

Required Watermanship

1. Distance swim of 200 yards non-stop, using any front or side stroke (usually performed at the first confined water session without equipment).

2. Tread water or survival float for 10-minutes.

Equipment/Materials

Tuition includes the PADI Open Water textbook, the Recreational Dive Planner (tables), and the Diver’s Logbook. These materials can be picked up from Lake Rawlings, or shall be mailed to the camper upon registration.

Each camper must also bring additional course materials such as a note pad, pen and pencil to camp. Mask, fins, snorkel, whistle, pocket weight belt and wet suit boots must be purchased separately by the first day of camp.

Tuition also includes the use of the following scuba gear in all confined and open water dives: full wet suit, sufficient soft weight, buoyancy controller, scuba cylinder and single-hose regulator with directional console. We will assist you if you are purchasing any new equipment for your child.

Clothes/Personal Items

Pack your clothes and other personal items inside a collapsible duffel bag. We recommend two pairs of shorts, one pair jeans, one pair sneakers, sandals, shower shoes (flip-flops), nightwear (PJ’s), a few t-shirts, socks for five days, bill cap, light warm-up jacket, one wash cloth, two towels, two bathing suits, Deep Woods bug spray, and personal toiletries. Mark your clothes and personal items before arrival, as many items look alike. Do not bring more clothes than you really need; do not bring hard suitcases.

Health/Physical Condition

Good watermanship, health and physical fitness are key elements to safely participate in scuba diving. All campers are required to take a medical exam by your physician, who shall attest to your fitness to dive on the PADI Medical Form. All heart, lung, ear problems or chronic diseases MUST BE reported on the required medical form. Please consult with your doctor and camp director before enrolling the camper if these conditions exist.

Water Condition at Lake Rawlings

Lake Rawlings arguably has the clearest water for scuba diving between Maine and Florida (so says our motto, which has yet to be challenged). Water temperature will vary in July and August, which are our warmest months to dive. Expect water temperatures to be in the upper 70’s to low 80’s at depth.

Camp Activities

We shall provide a myriad of fun water sport and land activities to you, the camper, and these will be structured to meet the standards of the PADI Open Water Scuba Diver Course for diver certification. In addition, we will introduce the camper to orienteering and naturalist (fauna and water) activities.

A Camp Activity Schedule is posted on our website at www.LakeRawlings.com; click the Lake Rawlings Scuba Camp link on the home page to get this information.

Scuba Diving & Snorkeling

Our scuba instructors, divemasters and counselors will teach and lead the campers to use scuba equipment safely. We look forward to sharing our knowledge, skills and the adventure of scuba diving with the camper; and assisting him or her to enjoy what is beneath the surface of the water.

Cabin Camping

Campers will love cabin camping with running hot & cold water for showers, toilet, and comfortable bunk beds for the comfort and enjoyment of our campers.

Important Reminders

  • Remember to submit an application, a PADI Release/Waiver/Assumption of Risk form, and a PADI Medical Form, and signed by the camper and a parent. A physician must also sign the medical form.
  • The proper payment must accompany the forms mentioned above.
  • Camper cancellation insurance is also available to campers and parents for a nominal fee.

Lake Rawlings Scuba Camp will provide a life-transforming experience for your son or daughter. No other Virginia resident camp can offer scuba instruction and adventure activities for teens to the level and quality of our program.
