Have SCUBA, Will Travel Program

Business or Industry – Lake Rawlings will travel to any location in the United States east of the Mississippi River and south of the Ohio River to provide PADI scuba classes upon request. The cost per group of 4-10 divers is a flat fee $3,500.00, plus travel expenses. Travel expenses include mileage at a rate of $0.50 per round trip mile when the distance is greater than 50 miles from Lake Rawlings, and per diem at a rate of $125.00 per day when the distance is greater than 75 miles from our location. Groups larger than ten divers will pay an additional $350 per diver, plus an additional per diem of $75 per scuba instructor.

Fees cover educational materials (text, dive tables, etc.), one DVD for the group, use of scuba equipment, instructor fee, certification fee and admission and tent camping fees to Lake Rawlings Scuba Park. The business is responsible for providing a pool and classroom for the confined water and academic sessions. Divers are responsible for purchasing their mask, fins, snorkel and booties prior to the open water certification dives.

A typical schedule requires three meetings to complete the academic and confined water sessions of the scuba course. This can be done during any three consecutive days of the week, but typically, most classes are done Friday through Sunday.

We encourage the business to form a dive club for group travel when the divers are certified, or to join up with an already existing association of divers whose purpose is to scuba dive at local or distant locations. Lake Rawlings will organize local or distant scuba vacations or travel, through our Brunswick/Mecklenburg Scuba Association, to destinations in Florida, the Bahamas, or the Caribbean.

Universities, Colleges and HBCU’s – Lake Rawlings will travel to any college campus in the United States east of the Mississippi River and south of the Ohio River to provide PADI scuba classes upon request. The cost per group of 4-10 divers is a flat fee $3,000.00, plus travel expenses. Travel expenses include mileage at a rate of $0.50 per round trip mile when the distance is greater than 50 miles from Lake Rawlings, and per diem at a rate of $125.00 per day when the distance is greater than 75 miles from our location. Groups larger than ten divers will pay an additional $300 per diver, plus an additional per diem of $75 per scuba instructor.

Fees cover educational materials (text, dive tables, etc.), one DVD loaner for the class, use of scuba equipment, instructor fee, certification fee and admission and tent camping fees to Lake Rawlings Scuba Park. The university or college is responsible for providing a pool and classroom for the confined water and academic sessions. Divers are responsible for purchasing their mask, fins, snorkel and booties prior to the open water certification dives.

A typical schedule requires four meetings to complete the academic and confined water sessions of the scuba course when the course is organized through the college/university Student Activities; and as many as six meetings when the scuba class is organized for college/university course credit. In the latter, the college/university must also pay the going rate for adjunct assistant professor.

We encourage the college or university to allow the students to form a scuba club for the purpose of scuba diving during spring break, or weekends during the fall and spring semesters. Lake Rawlings will organize and lead a spring break trip to Florida, the Bahamas or a Caribbean destination upon request.
